- Made the assignment interest page on Denial of Service attacks, created a supporting page to the CStopic E-Commerce on Fraud.
- UTM Submit Website is currently experiencing errors for multiple students, confirmed it with the course discussion board
- Provided Assignment 3 insight to users of the discussion board and started discussing Final Exam

Revised the assigned CS topic Electronic commerce, and fixed page anchoring and reference format
Added 1.5 line spacing to webpage and commenced on CS interest page Denial of Service

- Finished Assigned CS topic
- Added anchors making the page similar to a wikipedia style page
- Selected DoS Attacks as interest page topic

11/10/10 Finished CSC Assignment 2

- Finished Parts 1-7
- Submitted the parts electronically
- For Part 7 of the assignment I added a house that sways left then right after the ear movement

10/04/10 CSC Assignment

- Finished Part 4 and 5 of Assignment 2
- Part 4 is the same as part 0,1,2,3 except using circles instead of rounded rectangles
- Part 5 requires code from the java tutorial on movement
- Beginning to start part 6

- Breaking this assignment down for the first few parts it is essentially comes down to naming the object, placing the object, and repeating this sequence keeping in mind the objects layers

30/09/2010 Update

- Completed Binary Numbers Assignment and printed it

- Met up with my Assignment 1 partner who is interested in a similar program to Paint.NET called GIMP

- Did some background research on Paint.NET and GIMP and started to formulate my review for the two programs 

Paint.NET

Main Audience

• It is targeted towards average homes users who wish to simply create and edit a picture (crop, resize, retouch). 
• Contains all of the features Microsoft Paint which comes with (Brushes, importation from cameras and scanners) along with many more features (layers, transparencies)
• Has a simple and easy to navigate design
• Also contains layers and transparencies for more advanced users
• Users can also create Add-ons for the program to add more functionality to it
• The program also comes with special effects and multiple brushes for users who wish to add an artistic effect

Speed and Stability

• It is much faster than Photoshop and GIMP during startup due to it being built on Microsofts.NET framework http://www.microsoft.com/net/
• Unfortunately it only runs on Windows operating systems, unlike GIMP which runs on Windows, Mac and Linux 
• The program is built only for Windows operating system and is far more stable than GIMP 

Price and license

• Free
• Proprietary freeware

Cons

• It is similar to Adobe Photoshop which is a Bitmap based program (It is suited for editing digital photographs) not like illustrator which is vector based (suited for digital drawings)
• Runs only on windows computers
• Proprietary freeware, not open source (The code inside the program cannot be modified or redistributed, although add-ons are permitted)
• Due to this, Paint.NET is unable to run from a USB as a portable application

Gimp

- Still feels like a beta program (The most recent version was recalled due to a fatal bug which caused the program to crash) https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=622608

- More features than Paint.NET at the cost of startup time

- Roughly 20mb in filesize

- GNU General Public License

Assignment 1
- Finished setting up blog for CSC104H today
- For my assignment I have decided to do Paint.NET http://www.getpaint.net/
Paint.NET is a windows program that allows users to quickly edit photos and images for basic users and contains a variety of tools like layers and history for the more advanced users. Best of all it is a free alternate to popular commercial image editing software such as Adobe Photoshop What makes Paint.NET different from its competition is its quick startup time and its responsiveness. I wish to compare Paint.NET to other image editing software- I also found a partner who chose a similar program to Paint.NET called GIMP. Currently we are trying to find a convient time for the both of us to meet.
